According to the judges, there could be no other winner for the Columnist/Blogger of the Year category other than Tallie, whose husband has been retrenched. Her outpourings were original, gripping, well-written and formulated. The fact that it is so topical further ensured the incredible success of this blog.
According to Nielsen Netratings, sarie.com, currently the country's biggest glossy women's magazine website that is part of the Online Publishers Association (OPA), had 64 561 unique users and 411 341 page impressions during March 2010.

“For her to win as is a great feather in the cap for the website,” says Sarie editor Michélle van Breda. “The fact that our first loyal and popular blogger has embraced a new medium so successfully and effortlessly is an indication of how deserving she is of this award. What's more, this is a perfect example of how print and digital platforms can co-operate successfully.”
She contacted the magazine after her husband was retrenched. Due to space limitations in the magazine and the nature of the content (that lent itself perfectly to an online diary), she was asked to blog for the website. She soon had her loyal ‘followers' who couldn't wait to read her next daily contribution. Eventually, more than 16 400 users read her entries.
After her blog ended, the magazine decided to reveal her true identity in the magazine with a photo and a summary of her story. Due to popular demand, she is back and blogging about her new life.
