Cape Town-based eMarketing company celebrates five years in business

Last week Quirk eMarketing Business Solutions celebrated five years in business - and its survival through the IT industry's turbulent "dot bomb" period to emerge as a major player in the eMarketing arena.

The party was a suave sushi and wine affair held at the swanky new Shibumi restaurant at the V&A Waterfront Clock Tower complex, and the "who's who" of the eMarketing industry helped Quirk eMarketing celebrate their rise from humble beginnings. After all, when Rob Stokes started Quirk eMarketing Business Solutions five years ago in his living room with nothing but a computer and a headful of ideas to work from, even he didn't foresee the success that his budding young startup would achieve.

Quirk eMarketing began as a result of Rob's passion for combining technology and marketing, and today has evolved into a slick, dynamic and cutting edge One-2-One eMarketing company employing over 15 people. Based in Cape Town, Rob and his team of "Quirkstars" provide eMarketing services to over 50 clients - many of whom are established international companies.

Quirk eMarketing provides a full suite of eMarketing services including search engine marketing, email marketing, viral marketing, strategic eMarketing consulting, web development and design. Talented Quirk eMarketing developers pioneered an in-house email marketing tool to manage email marketing campaigns, with extensive built-in reporting tools for tracking each campaign. This tool is used to give companies such as Truworths, SATSA and Cape Town Tourism and Events Company the competitive edge with their mailings.

Besides designing commercial websites such as Sir Richard Branson's Ulusaba Private Game Reserve, Nicky Oppenheimer's Tswalu Kalahari Reserve, Quirk eMarketing also does pro bono work for charitable organisations such as Afri Oceans Conservation Alliance and UCT's Memory Box AIDS project.

Rather than mass produce generic eMarketing solutions, Quirk eMarketing has not forgotten their initial philosophy of treating clients as individuals. Rob and his team concentrate on the principal of "one-2-one" - a belief that different customers have individual needs and their eMarketing strategy should be tailored accordingly. The company recently launched Quirk Tourism eMarketing - a venture concentrating on eMarketing solutions for tourism businesses. Quirk eMarketing features weekly on SABC3's "Tourism Biz" series, offering its expertise to South Africa's tourism industry.
