Local reality series 'Our House' invites SOS Villages in

A new local reality television series for etv on home renovation and refurbishment, titled: Our House, is creating new standards in reality TV. What sets this programme apart, from similar contenders, such as Huis Huis and The Block, is the fact that the would-be home improvement experts are none other than children selected from KFC sponsored SOS Children's Village homes, across the country.

The SOS Children's Village Association, the largest private welfare organisation for children in the world, sees over 200 000 children internationally, benefiting from the various residential, educational and developmental programmes operating in 135 countries.

It was KFC, together with the creative genius of its advertising agency Brand Activation, which first approached SOS Children's Villages with the unique concept of the Our House television series. The idea being that the 12 half-hour programmes and 13th wrap-up show, will not only promote and raise awareness for the organisation, but also transfer invaluable life skills to the young participants - thereby empowering and enabling them to beautify their own surroundings.

Says Linda Thompson, SOS Children's Villages fund development manager, "Children have a right to nourishment, accommodation, education and schooling. We are very excited about the immense exposure that Our House will bring us and feel confident that the South African public will open their hearts and minds to us as an organisation."

The series is hosted by the popular DJ Fresh. Local South African celebrities have also been chosen by the children and enlisted to assist with the remodelling and refurbishment of KFC houses and other building projects within certain villages. Our House series will also be creating awareness for the new SOS Children's Village to be built in Rustenburg, later this year.

Our House starts this week on etv, on Saturdays at 12h00.
