These community outreach projects - featuring home-grown acts on the brink of top commercial success - give audiences who wouldn't normally have the opportunity to experience top musical events the chance to take part in the jazz-travaganza.
The programme involves providing two tailor-made shows at the Sci-Bono, located in the old Electric Workshop in Newtown, the cultural precinct in the heart of the Johannesburg.
The People's Concert on Tuesday, 24 August at noon, is for adults from various community organisations and showcases The Soil, Thulee and Nkulee Dube. The Magnet Schools Concert on Wednesday, 25 August at noon, features Dineo Pule, Zonke and Vuyo Tyolo and is for learners who are part of the Magnet Schools programme which provides music training to talented disadvanted students.
The artists for this CSI initiative are provided Native Rhythms. They are: Nkulee Dube; Dineo Pule;
The Soil; Vuyo Tyolo; and Zonke.
