Just two weeks after the release of his latest single Falling Apart and announcing the release of his forthcoming EP Wide Awake on 3 December, Liam Burger is not slowing down with the releases and unveils The Middle as the next single from the forthcoming EP.

Burger explores the theme of this laidback release, saying” “The Middle is a song about people not wanting you to succeed in life. Sometimes in life when someone achieves success in some way, you get people who try to discredit that achievement and tear them down. This is something I have personally experienced in life as well as others around me. In the song I talk about how these comments make me feel.”

The desperation and solemn feelings are skillfully delivered through Burger’s vocal talent as his hauntingly beautiful voice pulls you in and makes you feel every lyric sung.

With the second single now released from the much-anticipated EP, Burger shares a taste of what to expect from the rest of the EP: “Wide Awake is a body of work written in the peak of lockdown. Each song depicts a different emotion felt during this time. Wide Awake is about reflecting on the past and issues I have tried to overcome as well as what I want for my future.”

What does music mean to you?

To be able to express emotion (stress release).

Where do you go for inspiration to create?

I found that getting out in nature really helps, whether it’s going for a surf or simply going for a walk in the sunshine.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your work?

Being able to say things which other people cannot.

The song you must do in every show:

Take It Slow.

Any funny moments on stage?

During my biggest performance on stage, at KDay, my pick snapped in half, cutting my finger open half way through my guitar solo (I suppose it’s not really that funny), but I carried on playing anyway.

My heroes:

Ed Sheeran, Ryan Tedder, my Dad.

My style icon:

Jack Johnson.

What is your most treasured possession?

My guitars.

It’s your round. What are you drinking?

Hoegaarden Beer.

Dream gig to do:

Glastonbury.

What makes you stand out?

I’m still trying to figure that one out (maybe my eyebrows).

Nickname:

Buddy.

If you were not a musician, what would you do?

Surf.

Who would play you in a Hollywood blockbuster and why?

Zac Efron as apparently, we look alike. So, I feel sorry for Zac.

Lazy, deep thinker, over analyzing, considerate and chilled.

Awe. It can mean hello, thank you, that’s cool or goodbye.

Spend my birthday at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland and watch the northern lights.

Your greatest achievement:

Playing at Kday in 2020.

What do you complain about most often?

Being tired.

What is your fear?

Not being good enough.

Living life.

Ummm, sing?

The best life lesson you have been taught:

The best things in life are not things but experiences.

Where would you like to be right now?

Somewhere in Europe.

Do you do charity work and if you do, what do you do?

Yes, I work with a homeless charity. The group is called Community Who Cares, whose goal is to give homeless people a helping hand and reintroduce them back into society and aiding them in finding employment and shelter.
