R670-billion needed to maintain a water supply in SA

BD Live reports the South African government has to spend R670-billion on repairs and maintenance of the country's water sector, almost R100-billion more than the original estimate given by Water and Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa.

The country is likely to experience a 17% shortfall between supply and demand for water by 2030 according to figures contained in the Carbon Disclosure Project. Gauteng is projected to run out of usable water by 2015, BD Live reports.
