Tin Can Launches publishing company with world famous author and publisher
According to Murray, who has been running his global publishing operations from Australia, the new company's objective is to launch a series of high quality coffee table books and publications into the South African and international market from its new base under the Tin Can Publishing banner in South Africa.
"This year we are launching several titles on contemporary issues, popular culture, biography, sport, food and wine," says Murray, who is a 40% shareholder and managing editor of the new company.
"The South African market has for too long been under-estimated by the rest of the world with regards to publishing. South Africa has the knowledge, experience, skills and most importantly, the innovation and quality of standards to consider launching a new publishing venture using Johannesburg as the base," he says. "In addition, the geographical position of South Africa means that we can service the entire European, United Kingdom and U.S. regions, as well as the Asia Pacific area considerably faster than is currently possible from Australia."
Born in Ambala India, Murray has written and published several books and magazines that have been released in over 24 countries and in six languages.
These include Chappell Lillee Marsh in 1984, World Cup Cricket in 1983, World Championship of Cricket in 1985 and World Cup Cricket in 1992. He has also published Ayrton Senna - Prince of Formula One 1994, Michael chumacher - Germany's History Making World Champion 1995, The 1988 Seoul Olympic Games Official Programme and Schumacher - A Decade of Formula One 2001. Murray has been the editor of Cricket Lifestyle Magazine, Cricket World Magazine, and has contributed to many newspapers and magazines worldwide.
Tin Can MD Debby Reader, who has just returned from a trip to Australia to formalise the new business, says Murray will also play an integral role in Tin Can Communications business with his 20 years marketing experience.
"He has run a successful marketing agency in Australia for the last 20 years, with a client portfolio and experience that includes global brands including RJ Reynolds, Bosch, Clarins, L'Oreal, Marlboro, Versace, Gucci, Clinique, Estee Lauder and Christian Dior."
"Through various national lifestyle magazines including the popular Essentials magazine, Murray has vast experience in the tourism area having designed promotional activities and editorial features for South Australian Tourism, New South Wales Tourism, Tourism Victoria, New Zealand Tourism and the Victorian and New South Wales Snow Tourism industries," says Reader.
"The new company creates new and exciting opportunities including a crossover of business activities between the two countries," she adds. "Apart from a range of publishing ventures already planned for the next five years, this association will now allow us to expand Tin Can Communications PR side of the business by introducing our organisation to Australian clients interested in entering the South African market. We have already secured two high profile Australian clients and hope to finalise a further two during the first half of 2003."
Tin Can Publishing will also be offering publishing, publicity and marketing services to local publishers who want to launch books locally and globally.
"Having had prior dealings with Tin Can Communications who launched my book Tendulkar - Masterful during the 2003 World Cup, I was most impressed with the professionalism and results achieved by the company," Murray says. "With the full range of television, radio and newspaper coverage, any publisher wishing to launch a product in this region would be totally satisfied with the service and results offered by Tin Can."
