The spread is made with butter and cream, with no added preservatives, colorants or flavourants. According to Anita Labuschagne, founder and owner of Sweet Temptations, the spread is made according to a self-developed recipe. It tastes as good straight from the jar as on waffles, pancakes or flapjacks, stirred into oatmeal, over ice cream, as a cake topping, or even over baked pumpkin and sweet potatoes.
The concept of Sweet Temptations Toffees was born on a typically wintry day when the rain kept Anita and her kids indoors with no store-bought sweets at hand. Three years down the line, the product has established strong brand recognition and loyalty, and last year won the DStv Food Network/Eat-In Award for the Best Small Confectionary Producer.
The 250g toffee spread is available at the Yuppiechef online store www.yuppiechef.com and selected delis, retailing at R50 to R60 a jar.
