EWN app proves popular in Apple store
The EWN free app, released on 1 October 2013, had moved up to number 1 free news app in the Apple SA app store by Friday 4 October.
The success of the app can be credited to the quality of the product and an effective marketing strategy that relied heavily on Primedia Broadcasting's own radio platforms and social media networks.
The app, which was designed in collaboration with Prezence, offers a slick interface, intuitive navigation and independent news that sets Eyewitness News apart.
"The success of this campaign serves as testament to what we do every day," said Ryan Till, Primedia Broadcasting's COO. "The marriage of our traditional radio platform with the new media offerings in converged campaigns is a key emphasis for our offerings to advertisers and we have proved that we do this well, with effective results."
The added benefits of appearing in the top download lists in the app stores is expected to boost downloads further. It is available free from Blackberry, Android and Apple app stores.
