Good showing from SA finalists in The One Show

The One Club has announced the finalists in the 2006 One Show, One Show Interactive and One Show Design. Winners were selected from nearly 17 000 total entries from over 55 countries, and will be featured in The One Show Annual (Volume 28) and The One Show Interactive Volume 9. South Africans are well-featured in the finalist list.

All finalists have to confirm credits and provide verification for winning entries by Friday, April 28. For more on the other finalists of the total 500 global finalists, visit: www.oneclub.org/oneshow/2006finalists.php.

For more than 30 years, the One Show, the premiere international advertising award show, has been setting the industry standard for creative excellence. Categories include print, television, radio, outdoor, innovative media and marketing, and more recently, integrated branding. Each year, an international jury of award-winning art directors, copywriters and creative directors judge a wide variety of work, entered by a wide variety of places, from multinational advertising giants to small regional shops.

Great ideas

The 2006 jury required the judges, from all over the world, to travel to New York for a week of judging. Judges included: Ty Montague, JWT New York; Morihiko Hasebe, Hakuhodo; Erik Vervoegen, TBWA Paris; and Betinna Olf, Springer & Jacoby. What differentiates the One Show from other advertising award shows, say organisers, has always been a consistent and focused regard for the creative concept... the One Show, simply, is about great ideas.

This May, the 2006 winners will be presented with their Gold, Silver or Bronze Pencils at an award show and party in New York City. From there, the winning work travels the world as part of the international exhibition, making annual stops in Japan, Brazil, China, South Africa and other host cities domestically and abroad. All awarded work, including Merit winners, is also archived in their online database, the most comprehensive collection of award-winning creative advertising on the Web.

All work is immortalized in The One Show: Advertising's Best Print, Radio and TV, one of the industry's most respected advertising annuals. Organisers believe that being in the book is just one more way of assuring that the great ideas of today will persevere and influence the important ideas of tomorrow.
