Marketing & Media South Africa

Things are still cloudy for Hlaudi, but sunny in cinemas

Instead of merely reporting on the news, publishers are reporting about the SABC's inner workings - again. This time, it's alleged by the Sunday Times that the SABC boss hid a R500m loss from parliament.

Still on the topic of spending, Chris Moerdyk warns that it's 'battening the hatches and don't spend money' time again, as brand managers, marketing directors and ad managers react to cost-cutting directives from their boards by putting everything on hold.

It's not all doom and gloom though, as Leigh Andrews chats to Lola Gallant, Brand Manager of Cinema Nouveau/SK Select, about the event cinema phenomenon, and how you can now visit the same movie theatre, for new alternative content.

We round it off by tapping into [Loeries 2015] Agency expectations with... GRID, as agency partner Adam Byars tells us 'Durban has its own style of creativity' to look forward to this August.
