MTN Awards for Social Change to reward NPOS with R1m
Non-profit organisations have a chance to win their share of R1m in the MTN Awards for Social Change, which rewards good monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practice in the NPO sector. Launched by CSI and sustainability consultancy Trialogue and the MTN Foundation in 2019, these prestigious awards encourage best practice M&E and facilitate learning and information sharing among NPOs.
R300,000 will be given to one NPO in three separate categories, namely:
- Small NPOs with a total annual income of less than R5m
- Medium NPOs with a total annual income greater than R5m but less than R15m
- Large NPOs with a total annual income greater than R15m
A bonus award of R100,000 will be made to one NPO that provides the best information regarding advanced project monitoring and evaluation practices.
The winners will be announced at the 2020 Trialogue Business in Society Virtual Conference on 14 October. The 2019 winners were TEARS Foundation for Help-at-yourfingertips® (small NPO category), gold Youth Development Agency for gold Youth Development South Africa (medium NPO category), Teach a Man to Fish for the EEESAY programme (large NPO category), and Ubunye Foundation Trust for the Savings and Livelihoods Programme.
Registered non-profit organisations (NPOs) are invited to enter a project or programme that is creating demonstrable positive impact that has been running for a minimum of two years and has some level of associated M&E practice. Last year 70 NPOs entered, with the quality of the entries reflecting the sector’s commitment to measuring impact in society. This impact has only increased during the Covid-19 pandemic and it is hoped that the awards will establish a platform for greater learning and information sharing for the NPOs engaging in this process.
Entries will be shortlisted by Trialogue and shortlisted entries will be put forward for final adjudication by a panel of independent judges.
The entry form is available here. Entries close at midnight on 31 July 2020.
Please email completed entry forms to az.oc.eugolairt@olham and contact Mahlo Maku for more information: 011 026 1308/078 497 2090.
