Naked kitchen characterises new Steer at Sandton City
The revamp of the Steers brand has been followed by a new look store in Sandton City, which opened last week. In synch with the warm, light, chic and slick style of the centre, the new store features an open design, with no division between the front and back of the shop; the kitchen now takes centre stage.
"We have created what we call a 'naked kitchen'," explains Steers operational executive Terry Boardman. "Customers can see everything happening 'behind the scenes' and are part of that experience, which allows us to make the most of the theatre and drama of flame grilling."
In line with this focus, comes an equal focus on a real, old-fashioned burger joint. The new-look store exudes warmth and authenticity, created by the grill in front and centre and reflected in the warm leather and wood furnishings. The result is an atmosphere that is simultaneously chic and modern, yet inviting and unaffected.
"The Sandton store was one of the first franchises to open shop, giving the brand the opportunity to stand alongside some of the world's best-known and blue-chip brands. But this brings with it some unique challenges; not only does the brand have to keep up with its constantly-evolving surroundings, but it also has to stand out from a well-established crowd.
"We believe this store revamp achieves both those goals, and will contribute towards maintaining the store's status as one of the busiest in the country," he concludes.
