School TV broadcasts four new programmes
The SABC has launched four new programmes on School TV for intermediate phase learners. The programmes are: The Silent Enemy, Bonding Codes, Backyard Science and Looking Back Moving Forward.
Jacqui Hlongwane-Papo, SABC Head of Reversioning, explains a little about each programme: "The Silent Enemy focuses on infectious diseases and epidemics. The role of socio-economic inequality, within and between countries is examined. We find out how epidemics emerge, spread and are dealt with paying attention to cultural aspects of the epidemics world-wide. We investigate the bodies' ability to fight diseases and look at some diseases that have killed and are killing people everyday."
The Silent Enemy is broadcast on Fridays at 11h30.
"Bonding Codes highlights and informs viewers of the history and theory behind South Africa's national emblems and insignia. The series encourages viewers to love and enjoy learning about South Africa."
Bonding Codes is broadcast on Wednesdays at 11h45.
"Backyard Science gives dry science a shake up, showing that science is part of everyday life, is fun and right in your backyard. Each program presents easy practical experiments or activities."
Backyard Science is broadcast on Thursdays at 11h30.
"Looking Back Moving Forward in South African sign language tells the story of apartheid from its inception to its downfall. The series takes an in-depth look at events that led to apartheid, the implication of the system to black people as well as the resistance that followed which culminated in the 1994 elections."
Looking Back Moving Forward is broadcast on Wednesdays at 11h30.
School TV is broadcast Mondays to Fridays on SABC2 between 10h00 and 12h00.
