Celebrate this Valentine's with an indulgent menu from 15 On Orange
I was lucky enough to celebrate Valentine’s Day two weeks early with a preview of the four-course menu from chef Tamsyn Wells.
Top class dishes
I must admit the décor does lean toward the schmaltzy cheese side – think red roses, candles, chocolates and heart confetti adorning the tables; however, the food is nothing but top class. I loved each and every course.
First up was an Amuse Bouche of tempura prawn with a sprout and mango salad and miso mayonnaise. Light, crisp and utterly delectable, the first bite really set the scene and signalled that we were in great hands for the rest of the night.
Seductive flavours
The first course was a seductive smoked chilli-glazed pork belly with char-grilled pear, pancetta crackling and pickled mustard seeds – so lush.
This was followed by the fish course, which included a herb-dusted kingklip with Crème fraîche ravioli, confit baby leeks, a parsnip pureé and super crisp fish crackling.
The main course was a succulent rosemary roasted Springbok loin with beetroot risotto, char-grilled carrot, crisped kale and a red wine jus. Utterly lip smacking!
Lastly, we were served a creamy raspberry and buttermilk parfait with almond vanilla crumble, burnt marshmallow and zingy kalamasi sorbet – basically romance on a plate.
The Savour Restaurant Valentine’s dinner takes place on the 14 February, is R495 per person and includes four courses and welcome bubbles. Booking essential, call Connie van Breda or Lourensia Bronkhorst on +27 (0) 21 469 8000 or email / to book.
