Workers abandon strike, resume work: ABI
According to ABI, workers at 60% of its sites have “halted” the strike and striking employees continued to return to work every day, with a total of 14 out of 22 Fawu shop stewards currently at work — signalling that the workers are losing hope on the wage negotiations.
Talks between the union and ABI remained deadlocked after a meeting on Monday.
John Ustas, ABI managing director, said while the company remains committed to engage with Fawu, it has made its final wage and benefits offer.
ABI is offering an across-the board wage increase of 7.8%, and a wage and benefits increase of 8.3%, while Fawu is demanding 9.5%.
“We are committed to seeking a resolution with Fawu and are hoping that their members will accept our final offer,” Ustas said.
