We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Team Lead who is passionate about leading high-performing engineering teams, delivering scalable solutions, and driving technical excellence.

What you bring:

• You’re a strong technical leader with a passion for building both products and people:
• Proven experience as a senior software engineer or engineering team lead
• Solid expertise in PHP, Symfony (or similar), and modern software architecture
• Strong understanding of microservices, domain-driven design, and scalable system design
• Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in Git-based version control (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivery and quality

What you’ll be doing:

• As a team lead, you will combine strong technical expertise with people leadership to drive both delivery and team growth:
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration
• Own the delivery of key products and features, ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability
• Guide the team in building robust, modern systems using microservices architecture and best engineering practices
• Drive continuous improvement by refining development processes and introducing efficiencies

Reference number for this position is GZ61484 which is a permanent Hybrid position based in Observatory Cape Town offering a salary of R1.2m per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
