Cape Town company wins global web award

Cape Town web strategy agency Clickthinking recently took the top spot in the international Web Analytics Championships 2008, beating numerous global companies. Hosted by the US-based Web Analytics Association (WAA), a global custodian of the online marketing and analytics profession, the competition is aimed at web analysts reviewing site and traffic data while extracting value from web data.

With founder and corporate members such as Google, Yahoo!, Core Metrics, Web Trends, Walt Disney and Omniture, the WAA seeks to pioneer online marketing analytics as an integral part of business decisions.

Announcing Clickthinking as the winners on Monday, 14 July 2008, the WWA statement said, "It is tough to make web analytics cool and the team at Clickthinking managed that. Theirs was the most engaging and creative report in the championship. They confronted tough problems head-on."

The judges also said Clickthinking had a clear and original plan of analysis, made clear recommendations and got bonus points for conveying complex information in lay terms so any client would be able to understand them and not get mired in technical recommendations and reviews.

Clickthinking MD Peter Stewart said the award was a result of hard work by a team of individuals who are fast becoming the leaders in their respective online fields. "We are very proud of this achievement having competed with some of the very best companies, globally".

Other winners were Predicta (Sao Paulo) in second place, Alt64 (Barcelona) in third, User Intelligence (Amsterdam) in fourth and Targetbase (Dallas) in fifth place. The judges were industry experts Avinash Kaushik, Neil Mason and June Dershewitz.
