Hospital celebrates 75 years of caring

For 75 years, Donald Fraser Hospital in Limpopo has been a trusted health care provider to the community.

The hospital was established and opened in 1934. Since then, it has served part of Thulamela local municipality and has been, and still is, the sole health service provider of the communities falling under Mutale municipality together with the 21 clinics and one health centre that refers patients to it.

This year, the hospital celebrates its 75th anniversary with a function highlighted by a birthday celebration in November 27, 2009 that will include marketing of care of HIV/ AIDS (ARVs), TB CARE, STEP - DOWN CARE, Hoisting of National Flag, and Commitment to hotel service standards. About 5000 people are expected to attend the function, to which the MEC and the Minister of health have been invited.

The hospital invites all who were born, treated and worked at the facility, as well as the entire community it serves, to be part of this event. It is also calling for assistance in the form of advice, voluntarism, donation or sponsorship to ensure that the function is successful.
