FCB Johannesburg awarded Telkom business advertising account

FCB Johannesburg has won a four-way creative and strategic pitch for Telkom Business's lucrative advertising account, one of the largest and most prestigious of those expected to move this year. It joins FCB Johannesburg's portfolio of clients on May 1 this year.

FCB Johannesburg will assume responsibility for strategy, project management and creative execution and production of all above-the-line as well as below-the-line campaigns for Telkom Business.

Telkom's Executive for Advertising and Promotions, Zikie Molusi, said FCB Johannesburg's response to Telkom's brief was impressive, on both strategic and creative fronts.

"Going forward into an increasingly competitive telecommunications market, Telkom Business is confident it will meet its challenges, not least positioning its products and services to a sophisticated business consumer market," said Molusi.

He said, in its pitch, FCB Johannesburg ably demonstrated the value it would add to Telkom's business and how it would assist the communications company to turn challenges into opportunities.

"On a strategic planning level, the agency stood head and shoulders above other contenders, with a strong emphasis on creative solutions for Telkom Business."

"FCB Johannesburg's creative product is of a very high standard, and never loses sight of the consumer for whom it is intended," added FCB South Africa Group Managing Director, Maserame Mouyeme.

Mouyeme is understandably delighted to bring Telkom Business into the FCB fold, saying her agency's commitment to accountability was very attractive as it translated into direct business benefits for FCB Johannesburg's clients.

Announcing the awarding of the Telkom Business account to staff, she praised the entire agency saying a tender of this size required teamwork.

A closer look at the lead pitch team shows that FCB CEO Neil van der Weele's attention to succession planning and investment in top people is paying dividends. While industry heavyweights like Mouyeme and Group Executive Creative Director Ashley Bacon provided considerable input, the existing FCB Johannesburg management team assumed responsibility for the pitch.
