Musica, well known for their left-field creative executions, has launched a Christmas campaign with the line: "Rediscover the joy of Christmas". Jupiter Drawing Room creative director Ross Chowles explains the big idea behind the commercial. "We are showing adults in a child-like view, shot in a way that adds to the Christmas vibe."
Platypus Productions director Ian Chuter who directed and edited the commercial, notes the decision to shoot on film instead of video: "We wanted to capture the colour and richness of Christmas while at the same time accepting this is a retail account with budget limitations. As these commercials rely so heavily on performances and we know that human warmth is far better portrayed on film than video, the decision was easy."
With the entire production in-house, Chuter could spend as long as he liked in edit and graphic suites. "It is a real relief to know that the clock isn't ticking. I find a lot of work is not properly finished because people have to vacate facilities before really getting the job done," he comments.
