New design for Zigzag

After 28 years on the shelf, Zigzag Surfing magazine will undergo a radical change when it unveils a brand new masthead in early December. Zigzag has led and served the sport of surfing for generations and become synonymous with surfing in South Africa.

Publisher of Zigzag and MD of Atoll Media, Craig Sims, has been involved with the magazine as contributor, editor and owner over the past 15 years. "The Zigzag masthead has undergone several minor modifications over the past 28 years, but none as dramatic as this. These changes are important to show that a magazine that represents a sport that many credit as being on the cusp of progressive youth culture, demonstrates that it is dynamic and in touch with the latest trends.

"Extensive market research and a need to stay abreast with the times resulted in this decision, the logo has been tested in the market within the editorial pages of the magazine for the past six months as well as on T-shirts and stickers. The input and feedback has been great so we are confident that this move, while major, is not something we will live to regret," said Sims.
