Teeing off with Business Day
Mike Wells, chairman of the Golf Alliance, publisher of The Golfer, says the partnership with Business Day is a firm endorsement of The Golfer and the impact it was having on the industry: "There is a much-needed niche for a weekly golfing publication, from the perspective of not only The Golfer and golf clubs, but also for service providers to the industry," says Wells.
According to Business Day editor Peter Bruce, "The Golfer forms an important part of our leisure and economic lifestyle. It is a critical ingredient to South Africa's lifestyle and tourism offering, and we see tremendous potential for a publication of this nature within Business Days format."
Editor Colin Anthony says the publication, in line with Business Day's ethos, will province high-quality content, which will include:
- Coverage of the main global tournaments
- The business side of golf: Exploring such issues as the return on investment for golf days; investments in golf estates and their sustainability
- Local events: including tournaments, premier corporate golf days, women's golf, amateur golf, golf development
- Lifestyle: golf estates, tours, etc
- Practice tee: golf lessons
- Equipment: The latest to buy a good game
- Player profiles
The aim is to provide a vibrant, colourful, sometimes humorous look at the world of golf. For the business world, it will provide an ideal platform for corporations to showcase their golf days and to learn how to get more mileage out of their golf-related commitments.
