Clover Logistics invests in state-of-the-art technology

Clover Logistics has introduced state-of-the-art warehouse management systems at two of their main operations. A pilot project using the Super Group Dispatcher warehouse management system (WHMS) is taking place at City Deep and will also be rolled out to operations in Boksburg by August 2005.

Clover Logistics has further advanced the Super Group Dispatcher system by combining it with radio frequency scanning technology to improve speed and accuracy.

The Dispatcher WHMS helps to manage orders, inventory, receiving and despatching, expiry and availability of stock, quarantined stock and batch numbers. It is separate from the traditional ERP environment, as every transaction is communicated to the host system. Hand-held scanning devices receive instructions from the Dispatcher WHMS and send them back via radio frequency, contributing to the paperless environment at City Deep.

At the same time, Clover Logistics has incorporated ERP and a warehouse management system called Star Trak at the second distribution hub in Boksburg. It incorporates full scanning technology and improves picking accuracy, stock rotation, as well as general accuracy. Clover Logistics reports that this sizeable investment is functioning well and that the Boksburg hub is now a commercial entity, which is servicing several principals.
