Jet commits to R1.5 million annually in bursary funds
Comments Cameron Burt, Jet marketing manager, "The improvement in standards and access to education is one of Jet's key investment areas. The success of our brand is dependent on the fact that we look beyond offering well-priced merchandise and work to build robust relationships with our loyal customers through tightly targeted social responsibility exercises."
The partnership has its origins in Jet's sponsorship of the soccer development programme at the High Performance Centre based at the University of Pretoria. In addition to the sponsorship of Jet AmaTuks, which competes in the Mvela League, the investment has allowed for the creation of the Jet Soccer Academy. Here, talented youngsters receive individual skills training and an offsite programme of soccer clinics has been extended into disadvantaged schools, reaching more than 500 hundred learners annually.
Bursaries range from R3000 to R21 000. For more information, go to www.ap.ac.za/fao.
