Beware of counterfeit sweetener
Canderel South Africa is urging consumers to be on the lookout for fake Canderel sweetener sachets which have appeared in coffee shops, restaurants and other retail outlets throughout South Africa, and to contact its FreeCall line 0800 00 61 42 for more information and to find out whether they're in possession of the counterfeit.

Says Canderel South Africa's managing director, John Cameron, "Canderel's main concern is for its consumers - it is not known if these counterfeits are produced and packaged in hygienic facilities which carry certifications such as HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control point) or ISO 9001 accreditation"

Another major concern for Cameron is the support these counterfeits are getting from reputable outlets. He puts this down to either ignorance or little concern for their consumers.
