“Opinionated and vocal, South Africa's self-styled political fundis can now submit up-to-the-minute views and news of their own about the current campaign,” said Jannie Momberg, editor of News24.com. “On election day, mobile users can also look forward to receiving live results as they're released.”
Featuring top stories, information on the biggest political parties and a sample of the latest Twitter tweets on election-related topics, http://elections.24.com also offers Elections 2009 SMS alerts and a live comments facility.
On 22 April, the mobisite will be updated with a live feed from News24's interactive election results map, letting mobile users keep track of how political parties are doing throughout the vote count.
Created by News24, the Elections 2009 website reports seeing more than 200 000 unique users in March as measured by Nielsen Online.
