Bookings surge for MSC Cruises
Four-berth cabins, a general choice for many South Africans, are this year 67% full on MSC Opera and 58% full on MSC Sinfonia. In comparison to last year, bookings current reflect 14 000 passengers ahead.
"The success in the marketplace is testament to the growth of the MSC brand in the South African market," noted Allan Foggitt of MSC Cruises SA.
Current exchange rate and devaluation of the rand
The current sales figures for the forthcoming season can be attributed to a few key factors: The current exchange rate and devaluation of the rand makes taking a cruise an ever-popular holiday option. Travellers get "a taste of international", but at a fraction of the price, whilst cruising local waters. Onboard experience and a variety of destinations offer a viable and exciting holiday package.
A cruise on board either MSC Opera or MSC Sinfonia ideally caters for a large sector of the South African public traversing the economic, gender, race and age lines. A cruise can be tailor-made to suit appeal and, therefore, holds mass appeal. In addition, cruising still promises good holiday value with accommodation, meals and entertainment all included in the fare. For families, kids cruising free under 18 [See Terms and Conditions on website] is a major incentive, but this is subject to the availability of four-berth cabins.
The newly launched MSC Cruises SA website with an effective B2C service, as well as a powerful social media community all have contributed to the current successes.
