TEDxJohannesburg Salon at 2016 FNB JoburgArtFair
TEDxJohannesburg Salon aims to broaden the conversation around African visual art and make it accessible to a larger audience by presenting a full day of talks presented by dynamic artists, curators and thinkers and industry leaders. Art lovers can join in the fun and thought provoking conversations and presentations at Theatre on The Square for the price of a ticket.
The first session
The first session for the TEDxJohannesburg Salon Talks will start at 10am and run until 11.30am. It will feature insightful talks by Zoe Whitely – curator of Tate Modern and Tate Britain (UK), Ashraf Jamal – artist and designer (Togo/Brazil/UK), Jim Chuchu – artist, filmmaker and member of Nest Collective (Kenya), Mathe Ribane – performance artist (South Africa) and Aida Muluneh – FNB Featured Artist (Ethiopia) in conversation with Neelika Jayawardane.
The second session
The second session will start at 12pm and conclude at 13.30pm. It includes world-renowned artist, William Kentridge (South Africa); professor and editor of ‘Africa Is A Country’, Neelika Jayawardane (USA); industrial designer and artist, Kossi Aguessy (Togo/Brazil/UK); ArtLogic Director, Cobi Labuscagne (South Africa); visual and performance artist, Lerato Shadi (South Africa); performance artist and member of iQhiya Art Collective, Buhlebezwe Zwane (South Africa); and art patron with the Joyner/Giuffrida Collection of Abstract Art, Pamela Joyner (USA).
The talks are presented in partnership with ‘Ogojiii Magazine’, the bi-monthly Pan-African magazine for perspectives on design, innovation, enterprise and current affairs from across the continent.
