Maps Maponyane to launch menswear line with Spree
"Maps wins us over whether suited and booted or in a casual tee and his iconic hat. He fits the bill of our South African man perfectly," said Chris Viljoen, Fashion Director of Spree.co.za.
Maponyane's collaboration with Spree is a natural move for the man who was voted GQ Magazine's 2011 Best Dressed Man runner-up and this year's You Spectacular Awards Most Stylish Celeb, as the first thing he ever bought online was clothing.
Maponyane commented: "The convenience of online shopping, or mobile shopping, fits a busy lifestyle. Spree offers excellent delivery timelines and return policies, really meeting a man's need for instant gratification, while not having to waste time parking or queueing."
Own label
However, the local A-lister who recently starred in the film Tell Me Sweet Something, doesn't limit his interests to just modelling and acting. "I am thrilled to announce my collaboration with Spree this summer. I have been working with them on creating my own label with a range of garments that I've been directly involved in producing," he said. "Each piece is a wardrobe staple with a twist that every man's summer wardrobe should have."
Maponyane's love of summer and being out and about in our beautiful country inspired the MapsXSpree range - the perfect summer capsule. While not revealed yet, the locally produced range has an urban feel and will contain cotton, leather and canvas.
"I want the line to make men feel confident about dressing for summer and I think this collection will do just that," concluded Maponyane.
The range will be available for purchase in mid-November. For exclusive access and behind the scenes sneak peaks, follow @spreecoza on Instagram and Twitter.
