Field researchers from Bateleur approached 800 women in Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town's most upmarket shopping centres. The women were requested to either participate in a 45-minute interview at a coffee shop in the centre or, alternatively, make an appointment to be interviewed in their homes at their convenience, consequently overcoming the "high-wall" barriers in metropolitan areas.
