Heineken uses Google Cardboard for Next Level Bar

Heineken has pushed its Next Level Bar beyond the streets of Braamfontein and into the cyber world. Through Google Cardboard, a virtual reality platform, people from all corners of the globe were virtually transported to the bar. The platform uses a cardboard headset to house a cellphone and an app that transforms the display into a 3D image. The technology enabled users remotely to explore the space that was inspired by the new Heineken sleek 330ml Cool Can and transformed daily by up-and-coming creatives.

Local celebs - the likes of Euphonik, Tbo Touch and Minnie Dlamini - along with editors of international publications including Buzzfeed, Huffington Post and Vice got the opportunity to experience the Next Level Bar no matter where in the world they were. This enabled them to experience some of the most creative talent coming out of South Africa, from the comfort of their homes or offices.

"Heineken aims to be consistently at the forefront of innovation and engage imaginatively with our consumers. With our new Cool Can being designed to take people's Heineken experience to the next level, we wanted to expand on this concept and open our consumers' world even more," said Tjeerd Veldhuis, marketing manager of Heineken South Africa.
