Trigger joins global network

South African specialist digital marketing agency, Trigger Communication, has been acquired by Aegis, an international media communications and market research company. Through this acquisition, Trigger has joined one of the world's largest and leading digital networsk, Isobar and is rolling out a set of new digital marketing services.

Trigger, which became part of the Aegis group in May 2007, was established in Johannesburg in 2000, and has grown rapidly ever since – fine tuning its creative and strategic skills in direct digital marketing and ultimately allegedly spearheading, influencing and shaping the South African industry. Its proprietary consumer profiling tools allow brands to identify and communicate with individual consumers for viral and peer-to-peer marketing campaigns, using a variety of internet and mobile technologies.

Isobar has a presence in 37 of the world's top 40 digital economies and offers advanced high-end tools and resources. “Becoming part of the Isobar network has propelled us to the top in terms of what we can now offer our clients,” says Gavin Rooke, founder and MD of Trigger.

“Not only do we now have access to work on a global scale, we are now able to leverage the entire group's services – with the result being an increase in the range and level of expertise of what we can offer to the South African market, such as world-class search engine optimisation and online advertising services.“

“One simply cannot ignore the massive growth within the digital marketing arena, and the more astute brands are already harnessing these opportunities and reaping the rewards.”

To take advantage of the growth in the market, Michael de Souza will head up Trigger's new digital media services, with a view to growing it into a substantial portion of Trigger's business. “The service currently comprises online media strategy and fulfillment, and includes online advertising, search engine marketing optimisation and mobile media services.”

Rooke concludes, “Personalised direct-to-consumer marketing has become the way of the future and a core part of any marketing conversation today. It's a highly innovative but very effective form of marketing. We believe that the best in South Africa has joined the best in the world, and we are now in the best position to roll out an extensive armoury of digital direct marketing services to our local and international clients.”

Trigger's local and international blue-chip clients include Visa, VisitBritain, First National Bank, Absa, Japan Tobacco International, MTN Banking, Discovery Health, Nike, Justine and Brandhouse.
