Loeries Special Edition out now

Designtimes published a special edition on the Loerie Awards last week and included a special feature on five executive creative directors from different agencies across South Africa, who are also featured on the cover.

"Considering the popularity of the Loeries at this time of the year with both creatives and non-creatives, it made sense to include some of the hype in Design Times," says Designtimes editor, Mark Rosenberg.

Inspiration

He explains that visual and creative inspiration is the publications focus, no matter what is happening in the industry. "However, we did include content around the event.

"We interviewed the ECDs because we wanted to get to know them a little better. We tried to steer away from all the usual questions like 'What do you think the trends will be for industry in the next year' and rather asked them about the Loeries and what campaigns they were proud of working on this year. We are not necessarily saying these are the best ECDs in South Africa, but we are sure they will be recognised by the industry. The cover was designed in conjunction with worldwide advertising agency Havas and illustrator Chris Valentine."

Creative inspiration for readers includes interviews with the founders of Open Design Cape Town (another creative event to be added to Cape Town's list), illustration and design studio Run Rabbit Run, as well as photographers Carlos Ayesta and Michael Shainblum.

Subscribing

"From a media point of view the Loeries is a place for us to find great content and interviews for upcoming issues. I love the awards since I started in the advertising industry working for a small agency and for Ogilvy before founding the magazine."

Copies are available at coffee shops and eateries including Yourstruly, TamboersWinkel and Frankie Fenner Meat Market. If interested in subscribing, email az.oc.semitngised@yxor.

"We will soon be automating subscriptions so you will be able to do it all online," he concludes.
