How to enter the WFA Golden Jubilee Award 2003 Competition

The WFA Golden Jubilee Award 2003 Competition is open to all agencies and advertising firms from all countries.

Any Print/Video campaign can be submitted and all disciplines are welcome. Advertising companies and agencies may enter more than one campaign.

The competition will select creative work from the past 50 years and honor them in a "WFA Hall of fame". The following categories will be judged:

  • Best Saga: Campaigns that ran over 5 years or more within the last 15 years, preferably over several countries*. Three levels : Gold, Silver, Bronze
  • Best Campaign: One or several executions on the same theme that ran within the last 15 years*. Three levels : Gold, Silver, Bronze
  • Best Socially Responsible Advertisement from the last 5 years* (cause related cases). Three levels : Gold, Silver, Bronze
  • Golden jubilee: The best overall campaign from the past 50 years.

    *Campaigns may have been introduced earlier but must have run during this period and have data relative to the qualifying time.

    Competition

    The jury to select the entries to the Golden Jubilee Award and the Hall of Fame 1953-2003 will be comprised of advertisers from around the world organized through the membership of the WFA Corporate Members and its National Advertiser Associations, with the exception of the Golden Jubilee Award which will be declared by a committee of 5 advertisers and 5 agency gurus, retired from professional life.

    The Nominees will be selected and announced on the WFA website by September 15th, 2003. All entrants will be notified as to whether they have been short-listed for the WFA Golden Jubilee Award 2003. Gold, Silver and Bronze WFA Golden Jubilee trophies may be awarded in all categories of the competition. Trophies are awarded in each category at the discretion of the judges. Awards may not be given in all categories.

    All winners will be notified by October 1st, 2003 and will be invited to attend the Award Ceremony. All campaigns short-listed by the Jury will receive a Hall of Fame Diploma and will be featured in the WFA Hall of Fame. The winners will be announced at a special gala dinner to be held on October 28th, 2003, in Brussels at the WFA's 50th Anniversary World Conference. They will then be published.

    WFA will organize the publication of the winners and award levels in complete and/or summary form in the Hall of Fame 1953-2003 on the WFA website (www.wfanet.org), and other industry partner websites.

    A CD Rom showcasing the winners will be published and distributed to all Conference participants and Advertisers members of the WFA.

    Entrants grant permission to the WFA to publish entries with due credits.

    Legal conditions:

    By sending their work to the WFA, the entrants agree to the present conditions:
    Creative material, when submitted, becomes the property of the WFA and will not be returned.

    Entrants authorize the WFA and Maydream / AdForum.com (technical support) to reproduce, copy, record, transfer the submitted ads on any adequate media, screen, exhibit, publish, as well as to broadcast and distribute them in connection with the WFA Golden Jubilee Award 2003.

    Entrants also warrant that they, as individuals or on behalf of the Agency which employs them, the name of which is mentioned in the Entry Form are entitled to grant the rights referred to in the previous paragraph and that the exercise by the WFA or its partners of the rights granted under the said paragraph will not infringe the copyright of any third party nor attract any payments to such third parties, whether by royalty or otherwise.
    The entrants agree to indemnify the WFA and its partners and hold them harmless against all and any losses, costs, damages and expenses (including, without limitation, legal expenses) incurred by them as a result of any breach by the Entrant of any of the warranties contained above.

    The WFA and its partners respect the copyright and intellectual property rights of others and reserve the right to remove immediately and without notice from an exhibition or from their websites any creative work if they become aware of the possibility of the said work infringing the rights of any third party or causing that party damage.

    Submissions

    An Entry Kit is downloadable on www.wfanet.org and contains all submission information:
    - Entry Form
    - Campaign Summary and Agency/Client Credit Form
    - Entrant and Payment Information
    - Detailed specifications for submission of Creative materials.

    All entries must be submitted electronically. Submissions not respecting the specifications given by the Entry Kit will not be accepted.

    Entry Format

    Each entry should be submitted in English although the creative work may be in any other language. Campaigns not in the English language must be accompanied by a complete translation and all radio and television commercials must be translated into English to make judging possible.

    Please send digitized files in the following formats only. We will not be able to accept files in different formats.

    Video

    MPEG-1 One file per film; 352 X 288 for PAL - 352 X 240 for NTSC; video bitrate at 2500 kbit/sec; audio at 224 kbit/sec; stereo. (NB: the average size for a 30-second Full Screen file should be around 10Mo.)

    Once connected to the server, please create a folder and call it after your agency name, then upload the files to the folder. After having uploaded one (or several) file(s) to the FTP, please notify us by sending an e-mail to entries@wfanet.org informing them of the new commercials that have been uploaded.

    Print/Outdoor

    Please submit one JPEG image per piece of creative work and send via e-mail to .
    JPEG Specifications: Resolution 72 dpi, High quality compression (8 in Photoshop, around 80%); 1024 x 768 minimum.

    In certain cases, we may accept either a Beta SP (in PAL format only) or a U-Matic of the commercials you wish to publish. Please allow 2 additional weeks for technical delays and possible technical costs.

    Deadline for entries

    ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED before AUGUST 15th, 2003. Entries will not be accepted if they are not accompanied with full payment or if they are incomplete in any way.

    Fees

    - Agency Registration: 150 euros per agency
    - Saga entries: 250 euros entry fee per saga + 65 euros per execution
    - Other entries: 65 euros per execution
