International award for Ireland/Davenport

Just 18 months since being awarded the BMW account in October 2005, Ireland/Davenport has received an international accolade rewarding it for its creativity in BMW advertising. At the fourth annual BMW Advertising Awards held in Brussels recently, the agency walked away with first place in the Creative Print category for its tactical print advert for BMW's Night Vision technology.

The annual BMW Advertising Awards are held each year as a reward to international advertising agencies for extraordinarily successful BMW advertising. The aim of the awards is to stimulate agencies to continue to produce world-class advertising for BMW. Ireland/Davenport, in its first year participating in the awards, was voted to have produced the most creative print execution of the year, ahead of all the other international agency groups.

Created by art director Gina King and copywriter Rod McCall, Ireland/Davenport's award-winning print ad was conceptualised as a Christmas execution of BMW's Night Vision offering and features an infra-red shot of Santa and his reindeer on a BMW night vision monitor accompanied by the header, “See things you've never seen before.”

Comments, Kelly Leishman, GM, BMW Brand Management, “We are delighted that Ireland/Davenport has received this award in the very short time that it has been working on the account. It is testimony to the great work that it does for BMW and its passion and enthusiasm for the brand.”

Says Philip Ireland, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised for our work on BMW, especially as a small independent agency competing against the huge multinationals.”

Adds John Davenport, “It's a real pleasure to work on a brand of the stature of BMW and with a client who is as brave and confident in our work as we are, so this award is just the icing on the cake for us.”
