Horrorfest calls for submissions

It's almost that time of the year when the fourth annual South African Horrorfest Film Festival will bleed onto the big screen over Halloween weekend in Cape Town. Visual Impact, Magus and the HD Hub will again sponsor this leg of the festival, with an HD production prize worth R20 000 going to the best locally made short movie for its next production.

With each year gaining more popularity this, the only film festival of its kind in the country (except for another affiliated Flamedrop event, the X FEST Film Festival), always makes a point of nurturing and cultivating the local movie industry, in particular young movie-makers with an urge to create daring, extreme, scary and off-centre cinematic art which won't find a platform anywhere - except at the South African Horrorfest of course!

The festival takes place 31 October 2008 at The Labia Theatre, Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town. Submission details for local and foreign feature films and shorts can be found at www.horrorfest.info. Closing date is 1 October - email for deadline extension details. See also www.visuals.tv and www.HDhub.co.za.

The second chapter of Flamedrop's X FEST Film Festival will be an Extreme Music Edition, 26 - 28 September at The Labia Theatre, featuring a lineup of feature films, documentaries and captured live performances from a range of bands and artists pushing the boundaries of intense music over the edge.
