“We have always liked to have fun with our brand and have come up with some really quirky and fun concepts in our hotels,” says Danny Bryer, marketing and revenue director, Protea Hotels. “This award has simply proven that the youth of South Africa have noticed this and proves we are the coolest.”
Protea Hotels puts a lot of the credit for the award win down to the Prokidz programme that ensures that the whole family is entertained, well looked after and has fun during their breaks.
“The youth play a much larger role in family purchase decisions these days than ever before, especially in leisure sectors which include holidays,” continued Bryer. “In an age where social networking such as Facebook and Twitter is a fixture in the daily activities of youngsters, the youth are our brand advocates and are our next generation business travelers so it is important that we ensure that both adults and children are serviced and entertained when taking their holidays.”
Now in its fifth year, the Sunday Times Generation Next Survey research was conducted by HDI Youth Marketers and, this year, over 5,300 young urban South Africans were polled.
