The WRC's discussions with Midea Corporation, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) focused on global market development and commercialisation of transformative technologies, especially in the field of reinvented toilet business opportunities.
Midea Corporation is a China-based global company primarily manufacturing home appliances, but has shown a strong interest in the global RT commercial opportunity, and is interested to learn more about opportunities for partnerships in South Africa. The main intention of the discussions was to connect BMGF, DST, Midea and other relevant role players around the current sanitation challenges and opportunities in South Africa.
Midea's visit to SA will also include several field visits to technology transfer sites in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
