Consider your life's career
This is why False Bay TVET College (FBC) hosts annual Open Days to showcase all the opportunities the College has to offer. On 17 and 18 April the Open Day offerings included career exhibitions and support services such as Job Placement and Financial Aid information as well as Career Path assistance.
Held across its four campuses, including Westlake, Muizenberg, Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha, the public were introduced to "Try-a-Skill" opportunities ranging from Engineering and Design at Westlake to the Muizenberg campus' Chef Training vocation options. A total of 30 schools along and 2000 students visited our campuses.
Learners were able to view and photograph vintage cars on display at the Westlake Campus. In conjunction with the Premier's Office of the Western Cape, the Khayelitsha Campus hosted a Leadership workshop with the College Student Representative Council and surrounding schools' Representative Council of Learners. Motivational workshops were conducted at the Mitchells Plain campus inviting school learners and members of the public to attend.
The goal of early career exploration is not to prevent students from changing their minds. Rather, it is to encourage them to attach value to their intended field of study. Having an initial road map, and changing course after thoughtful consideration, far outweighs getting on the road with no clear direction.
