New regional retail centre for Bethlehem

Dihlabeng, the new regional retail centre for Bethlehem, is on track for its April 2013 opening, with significant commitment from national retailers. The fully air-conditioned mall, which will include state-of-the-art security, has been designed with contemporary elements that are in harmony with the environment.

The development's investors of Investec Property, Tintswalo Property Group and RPP Consortium continue construction on 27 000m2 development and a second phase, which will add a further 10 000m2 to the development, is being considered, prompted by demand from retailers who are attracted by the facilities and the location.

Currently national tenants include Checkers, Pick 'n Pay, Woolworths, Foschini, Truworths, Reggies, Game, Mr Price Group, as well as a number of smaller regional and national tenants. It is important to the success of the development that local traders are also afforded an opportunity to participate in this new venture and leasing will commence shortly. Parking will be available for 1700 vehicles.

The developers are in discussions with JN de Witt Civil and Building contractors and WBHO Construction, who have formed a joint venture, to see how social upliftment initiatives can be rolled out in the surrounding community. It is expected that a significant number of jobs will be created during the construction phase as well as positions once the project is completed.
