Tiny technology that can find pollution in South Africa’s water and trap it

Last year, by giving a homeless man a R20 meal and using the power of social media to "pay it forward", his nomination went viral and to date has been viewed over 780,000 times - and so #RAKnominations began. More importantly, it spawned thousands of similar videos, reaching and physically affecting and improving millions of lives. It also created three dedicated feeding schemes in Canada, the US and Ireland that are still running today.
"Last year when I was nominated to down a drink as a dare, I thought there must be a better way to use this platform. So without even thinking I drove to the traffic lights and gave a homeless man a soft drink and a meal," says Lindeque. "I had no idea that this would spark a global frenzy of kindness. It's incredibly humbling."
"In 2014, we touched over 1 million people around the world by inspiring global citizens to take time out of their day to do something kind for someone else. This year we want to double that. We have set up a website where people can log on to see the RAKnominations from all over the world as well as nominate friends, family and colleagues."
In addition to asking everyone to get involved and support the initiative, he has challenged corporates to join the movement to inspire their employees and each other to do the same. "Last year we had so much support from companies and we would like to see the same level of involvement again this year."
The campaign launched on 1 February and Lindeque is confident these genuine acts of goodwill and positivity will make a lasting difference in the lives of others, adding "don't wait to be nominated and don't wait to nominate!"
