Flux Trends annual trend synopsis - Q1 2013
The comprehensive snapshot of trends that are changing the way we live, work and play, tracks the trajectory of six macro trends that affect all aspects of modern life - technology, retail & consumer mind-set, global and local economic indicators, the political landscape, environmental issues, and finally socio-cultural trends.
This particular presentation, Q1 - 2013, not only tracks the latest trends coming onto the radar in 2013, but also looks more broadly at the ripple effect of 'the new world order' we've now entered. The convergence of a protracted global downturn economy, the accelerated change that technology brings, as well as the increasing roar of the voice of the people, makes for an unsettled year ahead.
The presentation will enable individuals, as well as companies, to connect the dots, eliminate the spam and help navigate the journey ahead: a trail-blazing journey where the tried and trusted business templates have become obsolete and where the new rulebook is being written on the run.
Highlights
- T: Technology trends from CES - "Phablets", 3D printing and the mega 4K TV revolution
- R: Eliminating queues in retail, virtual shopping and visual marketing via photo-sharing
- E: The state of global and local economies, and the new "hourglass economy"
- N: "Weed dating": when pop culture meets eco concerns
- D: How attacks on women are redefining global politics
- S: Socio-cultural trends: the photo-sharing war, democratisation of food and why China may spark a global champagne shortage
Anyone who understands that the world no longer functions in silos and that the ripple effect of one trend, now affects us all should attend.
