Permanent green exhibition opens

In July 2011, EcoExhibit will open within the Cape Town's Building Centre in Rondebosch, to give builders and developers a chance to view eco products and services in one convenient setting. It is reportedly the first physical space dedicated to sustainable development in the building industry, offering suppliers of solar energy alternatives, recycled brick products and planet-wise paint and tiling options.

The demonstration house, designed by Flavio Manzio and Michelle Ludwig, will be based in Northgate Estate, Cape Town.

EcoExhibit is the innovation of Rayne Neave, the granddaughter of Laurie Wale, a pioneer in the building industry, who started the Building Centre. This inspired her to create a space where suppliers of environmentally considerate building material and other innovative technologies are given an opportunity to exhibit alongside a full spectrum of lifestyle products and services in a setting that encourages sustainable design.

"Our mission is to promote sustainable design and assist in the transformation and education on technology that considers the environment for the building and design industry, as well as to showcase what can be incorporated into creating a 'greener' lifestyle," said Neave, founder and CEO.
