Out with print, in with digital
The Standard Bank Phatstuff magazine, which was distributed to 200 000 teen Sum¹ Account holders, will now be replaced by a brand new Phatstuff mobisite and website. This was announced yesterday, 19 October 2009, by 8 Ink Media, the publishers, since 2005.
“We're very excited to be adding an extra dimension to the Phatstuff project as its readers are cell and web savvy and love nothing more than to get their media fix on their own terms,” said Lisa Moretti, group digital editor of 8 Ink Media.
The website will receive a new design that embraces Web 2.0 and has new multimedia functionality including a music player, online games, a photo gallery wall and cellphone downloads. The Phatstuff mobile site will create further channels for brand interaction.
Chris Weiss, product owner youth transaction products, Standard Bank says, “Research shows us that the youth of today are hungry for fast moving, relevant and dynamic information and that the preferred contact medium for today's youth is via internet and cellphone.”
