Joint conference to highlight African supply chain development

The Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa (SAPICS) and co-host, CIPS (The Chartered Institute of Purchasing), are gearing up for the first ever SAPICS/CIPS Conference, which takes place in Windhoek, Namibia, on 29 May 2009.
Joint conference to highlight African supply chain development

This collaborative Windhoek conference will feature an outstanding line-up of speakers from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and South Africa. Topics to be covered include procurement, particularly in the public sector, the evolution of supply chain management, as well as the issues surrounding global sourcing and sustainable supply chains. The speakers include UK-based David Smith, who is currently the commercial director for the Department for Work and Pensions (the biggest Central Government Department in the UK). Smith is accountable for an overall procurement spend of some £4 billion per year.

This world-class event for supply chain and operations management professionals reflects SAPICS's commitment to developing the supply chain and operations profession on a continental basis, comments association president Ken Titmuss.

The association also hosts the annual SAPICS Conference, which is widely regarded as the industry's premier education and networking event. CIPS is an international organisation, based in the UK, serving the purchasing and supply profession.

The SAPICS/CIPS Conference takes place on 29 May 2009, with a welcome dinner on 28 May, at The Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia. For more information, or to register, contact Cynthia on 011 805 6616 or , or visit: www.sapics.org.za
