Wellness website launches in South Africa
Recognising the trend towards health consciousness internationally, as evidenced by the burgeoning number of new and innovative gyms, juice brands and bars, fitness classes, health cafés and related spin-offs, Wellness in the City has launched in South Africa. It is a website offering reviews of local fitness classes, nutritional cafes and restaurants, healthy recipes and beauty products, created by Marisa Logan and Nicole Lupton to inspire, encourage and motivate readers to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
"We started Wellness in the City as a channel to share our passion for living life to the fullest, whilst motivating readers to seek adventure, balance and healthy living outside their mundane comfort zones," said Logan. "We found a gap in this developing market and wanted to create a targeted platform that provides consumers with health, fitness and beauty content based on our own experiences with honest, unbiased feedback and reviews."
Wellness in the City launched in March 2015 and has already worked with fitness brands, such as Sweat 1000 and BodyTec SA, and reviewed a whole array of fitness classes ranging from boxing to ballet. Wellness enthusiasts have explored numerous wholesome cafés and posted a selection of healthy recipes that appeal to readers with a range of dietery requirements covering the widest spectrum of tastes and tolerances and allergins also getting the required consideration.
Modelling and PR
Aside from running the site, Lupton works as an international model, travelling the world exploring and experiencing a host of different lifestyles and cuisines. Her site co-founder, Logan, runs a successful PR agency, which puts her at the forefront of the latest lifestyle trends and products.
"Thus far the response from brands and readers has been incredible," said Lupton. "We are excited about plans to extend our reviews to cover more local cities as well as potentially collaborating with international partners. We will also be teaming up with beauty, fitness and nutritional experts to create more educational content for our readers - and this is just the start!"
