High school learners get access to free online math lessons
The Maths Online platform features the full NSC / IEB syllabus from Grade 8 to Grade 12, including Advanced Programme Mathematics.
With classes having been suspended followed by the Easter holidays, Advantage Learn CEO James Lees says it’s important for matric students, in particular, to stay on top of their key subjects, especially in light of the fact that registrations for the critical National Benchmark Tests (NBTs), which opened on 1 April 2020.
"Our Maths Online offering provides maths videos taught by subject-matter experts for Grades 8 to 12. Parents, teachers and learners can get free access by simply going to https://advantagelearn.com/redeem/, and using the code EducateDontContaminate to log in. They will find the full mathematics curriculum and be able to study the full syllabus on their own," said Lees.
The next big milestone for matriculants is the NBTs, which measure the academic readiness of matric learners for university in three areas: academic literacy, quantitative literacy and mathematics. Universities use the results of the NBTs to decide if a learner’s university application is successful or not and to determine the extra support learners may need at university.
"This is why it is so important to prepare properly for these tests. It can be overwhelming to know exactly what to do, and there are a few things you need to know before deciding which preparation is right for you," said Lees.
The first step for matriculants is to decide whether they need to do only the academic and quantitative literacy (AQL) test, or both the AQL and mathematics (MAT) tests. Then they must look at which preparation is right for them.
Advantage Learn’s NBT Preparation courses can be accessed online and in the form of workshops.
