SA case study at World Summit on the information society
A preliminary study, part-sponsored by French telecommunications conglomerate Alcatel, found the system to be the "most mature and well-thought out mobile platform available globally".
The intended benefits for MoPay could be significant. It will give MoPay "first mover" status, with an opportunity to reach a wide audience of decision-makers in the international development community and the potential for additional funding.
The findings will also have a major influence on the development of best practices and industry standards in the emerging mobile banking industry.
MoPay featured at the recent international Novatech Conference in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic in Central America, which coincided with the launch of their national Cyber Park.
CEO of MoPay International Limited, Dr. Cobus Potgieter, says this has led to a number of installation and joint venture processes in the region.
The company also participated in a recent meeting in New York of the United Nations Information and Communications Task Force on the role of mobile technologies in developing economies.
MoPay International Limited offices are now open in Central America, Pakistan and Sweden. Offices in West and North Africa, the Middle East and Australia are due to be launched during the first quarter of 2006, providing as regional support to 38 countries.
