Click-click, ding-dong paying off for kalahari.net

Kalahari.net this week said it was already experiencing an increase in online Christmas sales after introducing a 24-hour delivery option to cater for last-minute shopping. If products are ordered before 12h00, they will be delivered the next business day (in the main centres of South Africa).

Gary Hadfield, CEO of kalahari.net, said, "Although research (Hitwise research, November 2005) shows that online shoppers have become accustomed to longer lead times and generally start doing their Christmas shopping in October already, there is a definite demand for last-minute gift buying. We have seen a significant increase in site activity and sales as from October, and have now extended the online shopping days so you can shop up until a few days before Christmas."

According to Hadfield, kalahari.net's main focus is on the customer experience. "Today's Internet consumer is much more sophisticated and demanding - they want choices: choice of product, payment methods and delivery options. We are confident that we will have a good Christmas because of, amongst others, offering these options."

He expected that games, DVDs and electronics would be the top sellers this Christmas.
